Have Questions?

Does LWG Provide Testing?

We do not provide testing or diagnoses at this time.  The educational therapist that will be working with us does offer the Woodcock-Johnson testing at a separate fee. We are not requiring specific testing to be done before enrolling, however, we highly recommend making sure the student's struggles are clearly understood and discussed so that our tutors can work with the parents to make the best learning plan for the student.

What are the Parents' Responsibilities?

As the parent, you are the primary teacher. Our tutors are here to assist you in this journey.  It is the parent's job to make sure students get the assignments from the tutor completed on the remaining three days of the week.  Parents have the ultimate say so in their child's education. We are here to partner with you in this beautiful journey.

Parents are expected to regularly check our school management portal for communication from our staff and student assignments. We also have service team opportunities for parents to volunteer their talents and time in addition to the parent duty requirement outlined under the volunteer section below.

Does LWG provide grades?

Our model is to teach to learn not merely for grades, however grades are optional and vary from class to class and tutors. Please speak to your tutor about it when enrolling for each class,

How many classes should I choose for my students?

Before registering consider the following:

  • Keep in mind your child's learning styles
  • Consider your student's best interests academically based on their weaknesses and strengths.
  • Consider the students likes and abilities
  • Read the class description to make sure it is the right fit.
  • Contact the tutor/director with any questions you have before choosing a class.
  • Remember this isn't like a regular school setting nor like any other tutorial. Our classrooms are smaller and our goal is to reach every single student.
  • Whatever subjects they are taking at the tutorial, you will be teaching/following up with them at home. Make sure you have enough time at home to teach, review and oversee the subject(s).
  • Tutors will help you with unknown concepts. Don't panic!
  • Students will have assignments to complete on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
  • Keep up with your student's progress, hold meetings with your tutor if you have concerns.
  • Keep open communication with each of your student's tutors and check your emails periodically.
  • Be aware of what your tutors are assigning your student to do including; homework, projects, and more.
  • Give them enough time during the day to complete the work.
  • Students learn at their own pace since many deal with learning challenges.
  • It is strongly suggested that you stay involved in your student's academics. You are the main teacher and you know them best.
  • Calculate the cost of the class(es) and the books. There is a monthly payment option to pay tutor(s). The majority of books/materials will be purchased by the parents at the beginning of the year unless otherwise stated in the classes in which you enrolled your students.

Who would benefit from this Program?

Our special classes are going to be geared toward the student with learning differences such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, executive function issues, working memory, auditory and visual processing issues.  The student with social anxiety could also benefit from a smaller classroom . The goal is to not just teach the student, but to teach the student how to learn and adapt so that they can later go to any tutorial or private school; however we do offer classes for ALL STUDENTS whether you have challenges or not.

Do we need Volunteers?

Parents are expected to volunteer for an equal number of days during the year to help with check-in/check-out, monitoring the halls/phone/doors, and other various school-time tasks. The volunteer hours are broken up into 4 hour shifts and parents are able to sign up ahead of time for the dates and times that work best for their schedule.  The number of days are determined by the amount of families enrolled. On average the number of days is 4-6 days per family per year.

We also have various volunteer committees that will have openings throughout the year as well for those who want to serve beyond the parent requirements.

Does LWG require uniforms?

We want to keep the atmosphere focused on learning rather than clothing.  We have a simple dress code of Learning with Grace shirt, Learning With Grace t-shirt or polo with navy, khaki, or black pants for the boys. Pants or skirts (must be to the knee) for girls in the same colors as above. Our goal is to be neat and modest,  as outlined in the handbook. If there are any additional questions, our handbook is the best resource.
