Have Questions?

Does LWG Provide Testing?

At this time, we do not offer formal diagnostic testing. However, placement assessments in reading and math are required prior to enrollment to ensure students are placed in classes that are an appropriate fit.

We strongly encourage families to clearly communicate and discuss any learning challenges or areas of concern so our tutors can partner with parents to develop the most effective and supportive learning plan for each student.

Does LWG provide grades?

Our model is to teach to learn not merely for grades, however grades are optional and vary from class to class and tutors. Please speak to your tutor about it when enrolling for each class,

How many classes should I choose for my students?

Things to Consider Before Registering

  1. Know Your Child’s Learning Style: Consider your student’s strengths, weaknesses, interests, and abilities when selecting classes.

  2. Read Class Descriptions Carefully: Make sure each class is a good fit. If you have questions, reach out to the tutor or director before registering.

  3. Understand Our Approach: Our program is different from traditional schools and other tutorials. Classes are smaller, and our goal is to reach each student individually.

  4. Plan for Home Involvement: Whatever subjects your child takes at the tutorial, you will be responsible for teaching, reviewing, and overseeing at home. Make sure you have the time to support your student. Tutors will assist with challenging concepts, so don’t worry if something is unfamiliar.

  5. Homework and Assignments: Students will have assignments on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Give them adequate time and support to complete their work each day. Assignments are posted on Mondays and due the following Monday so that families can plan their home academic hours. It is our observation and experience that academic work is best done first thing in the morning for a majority of students. We encourage families to learn what time of day their student performs at their best and accommodate any other activities around those times as often as possible.

  6. Track Progress: Stay up to date with your student’s progress. Schedule meetings with tutors if you have concerns. Maintain open communication with all tutors and regularly check emails.

  7. Stay Informed on Assignments: Be aware of all homework, projects, and other tasks assigned by tutors.

  8. Learning Pace: Students progress at their own pace, especially those with learning challenges. Patience and consistent support are key.

  9. Parental Involvement: You are the primary teacher. Your involvement in your student’s academics is strongly recommended. You know your child best.

  10. Budgeting: Consider the cost of classes and required books. Most materials will need to be purchased by parents at the start of the year unless otherwise noted. Payment plans for tutors are available monthly.

What are the Parents' Responsibilities?

Parents remain the primary educators in their child’s learning journey, and our tutors are here to support and assist in that role. It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that assignments provided by the tutor are completed during the remaining three days of the week. Parents retain final authority over their child’s educational decisions, and we value the partnership we share with families throughout this process.

Parents are expected to regularly check the school management portal for staff communications and student assignments. In addition, families are encouraged to participate in service team opportunities by volunteering their time and talents, beyond the parent duty requirements outlined in the volunteer section below.

Who would benefit from this Program?

Our special classes are designed to support students with learning differences, including dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, executive function challenges, working memory difficulties, and auditory or visual processing issues. Students with social anxiety may also benefit from our smaller classroom environment.

Our goal is not only to teach academic content but also to equip students with strategies to learn and adapt, preparing them to succeed in any future tutorial or private school setting. While these classes are tailored for students with learning challenges, they are open to all students, regardless of whether they face these difficulties.

Do we need Volunteers?

Parents are expected to volunteer for a set number of days throughout the year, assisting with tasks such as check-in/check-out, monitoring hallways, answering phones, supervising doors, and other school-time responsibilities. Volunteer shifts are typically 4 hours long, and parents can sign up in advance for dates and times that best fit their schedules. The total number of required volunteer days is based on family enrollment, with an average of 4–6 days per family each year.

In addition to these requirements, we offer opportunities to serve on various volunteer committees throughout the year for those who wish to contribute beyond the standard parent responsibilities.

Does LWG require uniforms?

At Learning with Grace, we aim to maintain an environment focused on learning rather than clothing.

Our dress code is simple and modest:

  • Boys: LWG shirt, t-shirt, or polo with navy, khaki, or black pants

  • Girls: LWG shirt, t-shirt, or polo with navy, khaki, or black pants or skirts (skirts must be knee-length)

Our goal is for students to be neat and modest, in alignment with the guidelines outlined in the handbook. For any additional questions or clarifications, the handbook is the best resource.
